Philadelphia Union teenager Cavan Sullivan is reportedly set for his first call-up to the United States men’s national team after a strong run of MLS form.
CBS Sports, citing ESPN, reported that Sullivan is expected to be included in Thursday’s squad announcement. No official roster release confirming his selection was included in the supplied material.
The 16-year-old has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 10 MLS matches since the World Cup break. His recent form has coincided with a larger role under interim Union coach Ryan Richter, who took over after Bradley Carnell’s dismissal.
Sullivan became the youngest player to make his MLS debut when he appeared at 14. The Union are unbeaten in 10 matches and have a three-point cushion above the playoff line, according to the report.
