Bridgewater Little League secures New England Regional final berth
The team faces a rest period before the championship match, with the opponent to be determined between Maine and Vermont.
Bridgewater Little League has advanced to the New England Regional championship game following an 11-1 victory over Camels Hump of Vermont on Monday, 10 August. The 12u squad secured the win via run-rule in the fifth inning, ending a contest that began shortly after 9 a.m. and concluded in less than two hours.
The team will now face either Maine or Vermont in the regional final on Thursday, 13 August at 7 p.m. The match is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN. This victory marks the second consecutive regional win for Bridgewater, which began its tournament run on 15 July with the District 7 final.
Manager Tim Zackrison has granted the players a day off on Tuesday to rest before resuming preparation on Wednesday. Zackrison indicated that the team would take a break from baseball, potentially engaging in activities such as bowling, to relax before the high-stakes game.
Players have reported enjoying downtime in their accommodations, with infielder RJ Zackrison noting that the group is having fun together in the dorms. The squad also has more than 68 hours of rest before the next game, following the early morning start of the semifinal.
In addition to rest, the team is participating in pin trading, a tradition in Little League where players exchange custom lapel pins. The regional final will determine the team's opponent for the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
