Brewers secure fourth straight NL Central title after Pirates win
Milwaukee’s 5–1 victory over Pittsburgh, followed by Chicago’s loss to Atlanta, confirmed the Brewers’ fourth consecutive division championship.
The Milwaukee Brewers have secured their fourth consecutive National League Central title after defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 5–1 and benefiting from the second-placed Chicago Cubs’ loss to the Atlanta Braves.
The Cubs’ defeat came less than an hour after Milwaukee’s win, confirming the division result. Milwaukee has now qualified for the post-season for the eighth time in nine years.
Jacob Misiorowski led the Brewers’ pitching effort, striking out seven across five scoreless innings. He improved to 15–5 and lowered his ERA to 1.89, which ESPN reported as the best in the major leagues.
Joey Ortiz and Luis Lara each drove in two runs for Milwaukee. The Brewers have been regular post-season participants over the past decade but have not appeared in a World Series since 1982.
Last season, Milwaukee was swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. The title adds another division success, while the club continues its pursuit of a deeper October run.
For Pittsburgh, Brandon Lowe hit his 30th home run of the season. The Pirates finished with 171 home runs, tying the franchise record set in 1999.
