Brewers Extend Winning Streak to Five with Victory Over Padres
Milwaukee secures fifth consecutive victory as Joey Ortiz breaks a ten-month drought and Brandon Sproat earns first career win.

The Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to five games on Tuesday night, defeating the San Diego Padres 6-4. The victory was anchored by a significant offensive contribution from Joey Ortiz, who hit his first home run in nearly ten months, and a strong pitching performance from Brandon Sproat, who secured his first career win.
Ortiz, who entered the contest with a .181 batting average, broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a 395-foot home run to left-center field off Matt Waldron. This marked his first extra-base hit of the season and his first long ball since July 19 of the previous year against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Brewers extended their lead to 6-2 during a pivotal fourth-inning rally. The sequence began with a bases-loaded single from Sal Frelick, followed by a sacrifice fly from Ortiz that drove in two runs. Brice Turang then added an RBI double to push the margin further. Waldron, who entered the game after Bradgley Rodriguez pitched a scoreless first inning, allowed six runs and eight hits over 2 2/3 innings.
On the mound, Sproat (1-2) delivered a solid outing, striking out six batters over 5 1/3 innings while allowing three runs. Abner Uribe closed out the game in the ninth inning, working around a one-out walk to record his fourth save in five opportunities.
The Padres mounted a late comeback attempt, with Miguel Andjuar hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning and an RBI double in the eighth that narrowed the final score to 6-4. Padres pitching coach Ruben Niebla was absent due to a family matter and is expected to return for Thursday’s series finale. Michael King is scheduled to start for San Diego on Wednesday against Jacob Misiorowski.
