Ronald Acuña Jr. was central to Atlanta’s offence, going 7-for-15 with two doubles and two home runs. His most decisive contribution came against Phillies reliever Alex McFarlane, when he hit a game-tying three-run homer.
Acuña’s season has been interrupted by two injured-list stints for left hamstring tightness. His production in Philadelphia provided a significant lift for the Braves, although it does not settle the broader question of his form across the season.
Atlanta’s left-handed hitters struggled against the Phillies’ pitching, combining to go 10-for-59 with two doubles and no home runs across the series. That limited production offset the impact of Acuña’s performance.
The rivals are scheduled to meet for three more regular-season games next weekend in Atlanta. A further meeting in the postseason remains possible, but is not confirmed.
