Bose returns to wired earbuds with noise-cancelling model
The new earbuds are Bose’s first wired headphones since 2015 and are scheduled to ship from 15 October.
Bose has introduced its Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds, its first new wired headphones since 2015. The company is taking the product to market as interest in wired earbuds grows, particularly among younger listeners.
Bose consumer audio president Raza Haider told WIRED the earbuds took about eight or nine months to develop. Pre-orders are available through Bose and Best Buy, with shipping scheduled to begin on 15 October 2026.
The earbuds include active noise cancelling, an in-line control panel, removable silicone stabilisers and multiple ear-tip sizes. They will be sold in black and white, as well as limited-edition mint.
WIRED reports wired headphone sales rose 10 per cent in the second half of 2025 and 20 per cent at the start of 2026. Those figures and the explanation that younger listeners are driving renewed demand come from WIRED’s reporting.
WIRED’s early listening impressions were based on four days with a late-stage prototype, rather than a final retail model. The reviewer reported positive initial impressions of sound and noise cancelling, while noting the control panel’s weight and a tendency for the cable to tangle.
