The Toronto Blue Jays have placed first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr on the seven-day concussion injured list, the team confirmed on Saturday. The move follows symptoms sustained during a collision with New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr during Friday’s contest. Outfielder Daz Cameron has been selected from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the vacancy on the active roster.
The incident occurred in the sixth inning of a game that Toronto ultimately won 3-1. Lombard, attempting to leap over a sliding Guerrero at third base, struck the first baseman’s head with his knee and thigh, dislodging Guerrero’s helmet. Guerrero left the field but managed to score the tying run before appearing dazed. Charles McAdoo replaced him at first base in the seventh inning.

The team has not specified a timeline for Guerrero’s return beyond the minimum seven-day period required by the injured list designation. Guerrero, who is currently batting .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, is a six-time All-Star.
To accommodate the roster changes, the Blue Jays designated right-hander Lazaro Estrada for assignment. The club also recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo and optioned right-hander Chase Lee to Triple-A. Tiedemann has recorded a 0-1 record with a 6.43 earned run average across seven games this season.
