Belichick rejects claims girlfriend has role in North Carolina football programme

North Carolina coach Bill Belichick has rejected reports that his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, is involved in the university’s football programme, describing the claims as a “flat-out lie”.
Speaking publicly on the issue for the first time in more than a year, Belichick said Hudson had been copied into communications about his personal appearances, not university business. He said the arrangement was intended to help coordinate commitments outside North Carolina.
Belichick said Hudson assists with some personal scheduling but has “no role or input” in the North Carolina football programme. Speculation about her position followed her presence on the Tar Heels’ sideline and reports that she had been copied into emails sent to Belichick.
Media reports subsequently suggested Hudson could be involved in team operations, including as a possible general manager. Belichick dismissed those characterisations as an exaggeration of the original email request.
The comments come as North Carolina manages broader off-field scrutiny. Former general manager Michael Lombardi resigned on 3 September after being placed on administrative leave during the university’s investigation into a human resources complaint filed by a former front office employee.
