FC Bayern Munich travel to Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen on 5 September 2026 to face Schalke 04 in the clubs’ first reported meeting in three years.

Bayern enter the fixture unbeaten across their opening three matches of the 2026/27 season. Their start has included wins over Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and VfL Osnabrück in the DFB-Pokal.

Schalke have recently returned to the Bundesliga but began their campaign with a 3–0 defeat to Augsburg. They advanced in the DFB-Pokal after requiring extra time to beat Hallescher.

The line-up reported by Yahoo Sports includes Alphonso Davies, Lennart Karl, Dayot Upamecano and Manuel Neuer for Bayern, with Ismael Saibari named for his first Bundesliga start. Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala are listed among the substitutes.

Early updates from the gamethread recorded a Davies cross that nearly produced a goal, a collision involving Jonathan Tah and a dangerous run by Luis Díaz. The supplied source material does not include a final score or result.
