Astros hold betting-market edge over White Sox in AL Wild Card series
Fox Sports reported Houston at -145 and Chicago at +125 on 28 September, as the teams’ contrasting seasons set up an unexpected postseason pairing.
The Houston Astros were favoured over the Chicago White Sox in the 2026 American League Wild Card Series, with DraftKings Sportsbook listing Houston at -145 and Chicago at +125, Fox Sports reported on 28 September.
Houston won five of the teams’ seven regular-season meetings, including three of the last four, according to the report. The series prices also put an Astros sweep at +235 and a three-game Houston win at +240. Chicago was listed at +300 for either a sweep or a three-game victory.
The market edge comes despite Houston finishing the regular season at 81–81. The Astros nevertheless won the AL West and were outscored by 32 runs over the season, Fox Sports reported.
Chicago entered the playoffs after three consecutive seasons with at least 100 losses, a run that included 121 defeats in 2024, according to Fox Sports. The White Sox last reached the playoffs in 2021, the report said.
