Asian Games squash gold sends two Malaysians to LA28
Eain Yow Ng and Sivasangari Subramaniam defended their titles without dropping a game, earning qualification for squash’s Olympic debut.
Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng and Sivasangari Subramaniam have qualified for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after winning the men’s and women’s squash titles at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The Al Jazeera report says they are the first squash players to qualify for LA28, where the sport is scheduled to make its Olympic debut. Asian Games gold provides automatic qualification for the next Olympics in squash.
Both Malaysians defended their titles without dropping a game. Ng beat India’s Abhay Singh in straight games, while Subramaniam defeated India’s Anahat Singh, also in straight games.
The victories brought Malaysia’s gold-medal tally at the Games to five and six. Pakistan won two squash bronze medals, and Japan’s Satomi Watanabe also claimed bronze.
