Apple adds AI monitoring and tab organisation to Safari in iOS 27
Apple’s latest Safari update adds webpage change alerts, prompt-based extension creation and automatic tab grouping, with availability tied to Apple Intelligence-compatible devices.
Apple is adding three Apple Intelligence features to Safari with iOS 27, giving users new ways to monitor webpages, create browser extensions and organise open tabs. WIRED reported the changes ahead of the software’s expected release from beta on Monday.
Safari’s “Notify Me” tool can scan a webpage at intervals set by the user and look for specified changes. Potential uses include tracking price drops, ticket availability, privacy policy updates and other changes to website content.
A separate “Describe an Extension” feature generates a custom Safari extension from a text prompt. Safari may also recommend pre-made extensions that match the user’s request.
The browser can also automatically create topics from open tabs and group related pages. The feature is designed to organise large collections of tabs, with WIRED reporting that it grouped pages by themes including articles, event listings and comedy clubs during testing.
The features require Apple Intelligence and an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. They are also available on iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, although availability may depend on software release status, region and device compatibility.
