AP Top 25 largely holds as Ohio State-Texas leads Week 2
Louisville was the only AP-ranked team to lose in Week 1, while Michigan fell out of the poll and Virginia entered ahead of a major Ohio State-Texas fixture.
The AP Top 25 underwent limited change after Week 1, according to ESPN, with Louisville the only AP-ranked team to lose. Louisville fell to then-No. 9 Ole Miss, whose victory marked the programme’s 700th win.
Michigan dropped out of the AP poll after a narrow 13–12 victory over Western Michigan. The result followed a replay decision that restored one second to the clock. Virginia entered the poll after defeating NC State, recording 258 rushing yards — its most in an ACC game since 2020.
Week 2 is led by Ohio State’s trip to Texas in the teams’ third consecutive meeting. Ohio State won the previous two encounters. The Buckeyes opened the season with a 53-point win over Ball State, their largest season-opening margin under coach Ryan Day.
Other prominent fixtures include Oklahoma at Michigan, LSU against Louisiana Tech and Washington against Utah State. LSU’s Week 1 victory over Clemson lifted the team to No. 8 in the Coaches Poll, while Michigan remained No. 24 in that separate ranking.
Indiana enters Week 2 on a 17-game winning streak. The broader schedule also includes Georgia against Western Kentucky, Notre Dame against Rice and Oregon at Oklahoma State.
