Anthropic brings editable documents and presentations into Claude chats
Claude users can create, edit and export documents and presentations directly within conversations as Anthropic combines Cowork and Artifacts in one interface.
Anthropic has launched Claude Docs, a feature that allows users to create and edit documents within Claude conversations. The documents appear in the chat and can initially remain private, with an option to share them with colleagues.
Users can export documents to Google Docs or Microsoft Word after editing them in Claude. Anthropic is also adding presentation creation within conversations, allowing users to edit slides in chat and download them as PowerPoint or PDF files.
The update brings Cowork and Artifacts capabilities into the same interface. Cowork supports multi-step tasks, including reading work documents and creating documents, slides and spreadsheets, while Artifacts are saved items such as documents, websites and diagrams accessible through a sidebar.
Anthropic said the changes are intended to create a “One Claude” offering, allowing the assistant to determine which capabilities a task requires from any conversation. The company previously maintained separate spaces for visual work and larger tasks, which it said could make it unclear where users should begin.
According to Engadget, the changes are rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers over the next few weeks across web, desktop and mobile. Team and Free plan users are expected to receive access soon, although Anthropic has not provided a precise timetable.
