Anduril plans $3.7bn Maryland shipyard alongside Navy contract
The company says its planned Arsenal-2 facility will make components for Virginia-class submarines, with employment figures projected rather than confirmed.

Anduril Industries says it will invest $3.7bn in a Maryland shipyard and has secured a reported $2.9bn US Navy contract to manufacture parts for Virginia-class submarines. The company’s announcement was reported by Al Jazeera.
The planned facility, called Arsenal-2, is expected to produce torpedo tubes and larger hull components. Anduril president Chris Brose said the yard would prioritise submarine components rather than develop new drone platforms.
Anduril projects the facility will create 3,100 jobs and support more than 11,000 indirect roles. Those figures are forecasts, not confirmed employment outcomes.
The contract and investment come as US shipyards struggle to meet a target of two new submarines a year. Reported production has been 1.1 to 1.2 annually. The Navy operates 26 Virginia-class attack submarines, with two more reportedly due in 2027.
President Donald Trump was scheduled to unveil the project and announce a broader naval shipyard expansion in Baltimore on Tuesday. The source does not confirm whether that announcement took place.
