Amy Hunt claims 100m silver as Tina Clayton wins Diamond League final
The British sprinter followed her 200m bronze with second place in Brussels, while Australia’s Jessica Hull finished third in the 1500m.
Amy Hunt finished second in the women’s 100m at the Diamond League final in Brussels, recording 11.06 seconds behind Jamaica’s Tina Clayton, who won in 10.93.
The result gave Hunt two sprint podiums in two days after she placed third in the 200m the previous day. American Olympic silver medallist Sha’Carri Richardson was third in the 100m in 11.07.
“I am 24 and on the up and up and up. I am not afraid of the other girls,” Hunt told BBC Sport. She said she had “love and respect” for her rivals but welcomed the challenge of racing them.
Hunt’s result follows four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham last month. She plans to contest both the 100m and 200m at the inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest, beginning on 11 September.
Britain’s Georgia Hunter Bell finished fourth in the 1500m, won by Poland’s Klaudia Kazimierska in 3:54.05. Kenya’s Dorcus Ewoi was second and Australia’s Jessica Hull third.
Hunter Bell said the demands of a season featuring 19 races and three championships were affecting her physically and mentally. In the 800m, Switzerland’s Audrey Werro won in 1:54.75, with Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson absent through injury.
