Amazon brings Alexa+ into Fire TV and its mobile app
The planned November US rollout adds personalised prompts and more complex recommendations, with live content and gaming features due later.
Amazon plans to add Alexa+ features to Fire TV and its mobile app, beginning with US users in November. A new hub will offer prompt suggestions based on user history and let the assistant answer more complex questions.
Amazon says Alexa+ will draw on subscriptions, watch history and current affairs. The updated app will let users add shows and films to watchlists from article links, receive recommendations based on uploaded photos and open streaming services through in-app links.
Fire TV is also adding integrated live content from more than 40 apps, including YouTube TV, Peacock, Tubi, Sling and DirecTV. A Games Hub will bring Xbox, Luna and NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming services together.
Amazon says these Fire TV updates will roll out in the US later this year and elsewhere early next year. An updated Fire TV Music app is planned for this fall, with music videos, podcasts and live concert and festival streams.
