Alien: Isolation 2 shifts to colony world Terrafirma in new Summer Game Fest demo
The long-awaited sequel moves away from the Sevastopol Station, prioritising stealth and evasion in a new outdoor setting while retaining the original’s uncompromising survival-horror mechanics.

Sega and Creative Assembly have unveiled a full trailer and provided a hands-on prologue demo for Alien: Isolation 2 during Summer Game Fest 2026. The sequel departs from the claustrophobic space station setting of the 2014 original, relocating the narrative to a remote colony world named Terrafirma. The story follows a new protagonist, Blake, rather than Amanda Ripley, aiming to provide a "journey of discovery" in an outdoor environment reminiscent of LV-426’s Hadley’s Hope. The gameplay retains the stealth-action survival-horror mechanics of the predecessor, prioritising tension and evasion over combat. The title is currently in development for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
During the SGF Play Days media event, journalists were able to experience the opening prologue, which serves as an extended tutorial. The sequence sees Blake investigating a crashed module from the doomed Sevastopol Station in a dead woodland area. Creative director Al Hope explained that the shift to a new protagonist was intended to allow the team to explore radically different environments while maintaining the core experience of survival rather than combat. This approach marks a significant departure from previous Alien IP titles, which largely focused on the action-heavy James Cameron Aliens experience, instead returning to the tone of Ridley Scott’s 1979 film.
The demo highlighted the game's sound design and low-fi/high-tech interior aesthetics, capturing the eerie quiet of the ship amidst the chaotic storm outside. Players must carefully manoeuvre through debris fields and utilise hiding spots to avoid detection. The sequence includes a jump scare involving a wrecked Working Joe android and concludes with the alien spotting Blake before a flood sends the module careening down a hill. This emphasis on patience and environmental awareness reinforces the series' reputation for uncompromising tension.
Alien: Isolation 2 is set a few months after the events of the first game. Blake, a lead surveyor, discovers that the crashed object is a module containing data logs about the Sevastopol Station's fate. Upon exploring the derelict, she encounters a lone xenomorph that stowed away, leading to an unrelenting fight for survival on the hostile world. Hope noted that while Amanda Ripley remains an important character to the studio, the new perspective allows for a fresh mystery and a different spin on the horror experience.
The original Alien: Isolation initially received mixed reception for its difficulty but has since undergone a reappraisal as one of the best horror games of the 2010s. It was praised for its faithful recreation of the original film's tone, focusing on survival rather than combat. The sequel aims to build on this legacy by offering a new setting that provides a different way to experience the blend of stealth-action and survival horror. The game remains in active development for release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
