Alice Kinsella set for Team GB return a year after giving birth
The Olympic bronze medallist is preparing to compete on all four apparatuses at a senior international in Stoke.
Alice Kinsella is set to return to international gymnastics for Team GB this weekend, about a year after giving birth to her son, Parker.
The 25-year-old will face France, Switzerland, Germany and Italy at Fenton Manor in Stoke on 12–13 September. The competition is planned to be her first senior international in Team GB colours since childbirth and her first return across all four apparatuses.
Kinsella became the first British artistic gymnast to resume elite competition after giving birth when she finished fourth on beam at the British Championships in March. She is an Olympic bronze medallist and three-time Commonwealth champion.
Her planned programme includes balance beam, bars, vault and floor, increasing the physical demands from her British Championships return. Kinsella told BBC Sport that she was further ahead of her expected recovery schedule, but remained focused on gaining experience rather than results.
She returned to training at the start of the year with longer-term targets of competing at the 2027 World Championships and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Her Stoke appearance is a step towards those goals, rather than confirmation of selection for either event.
