Algeria announces diplomatic break with UAE over alleged hostile actions
Algiers says it has exhausted efforts to preserve ties and has given the Emirati ambassador 48 hours to comply with its decision.
Algeria says it has decided to cut diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, citing a series of actions it described as “provocative or hostile”.
Algeria’s Foreign Ministry said the alleged actions had become unacceptable despite repeated warnings and that it had exhausted all means of preserving bilateral relations.
The Emirati ambassador was summoned to the ministry, informed of the decision and given 48 hours to comply, according to the announcement reported by Al Jazeera Global News.
The decision follows growing strain between Algiers and Abu Dhabi in recent years, with the two countries taking differing positions on several regional issues.
Algeria has not publicly specified which actions prompted the break. The UAE had not immediately commented, while the legal and practical implementation of the decision remained unclear.
