San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Alfred Collins will miss the entire 2026 NFL season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in Melbourne.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the season-ending injury on Wednesday, after Collins went down on Tuesday ahead of the 49ers’ opener against the Los Angeles Rams.
Further medical details have not been reported. The injury removes Collins from the 49ers’ defensive-line rotation for his second season in the league.
Selected 43rd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas, Collins recorded 17 tackles, one sack and two fumble recoveries during his rookie season.
The 49ers have defensive tackles Kevin Givens and Sebastian Valdez on their practice squad as potential internal options. The team’s broader replacement plans have not been confirmed.
