New England Patriots wide receiver AJ Brown was ruled out for the remainder of the season opener after injuring his ankle during the team’s 13–10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Brown was hurt while catching a pass from Drake Maye in the third quarter. He was assessed in the medical tent before going to the locker room and did not return.

The receiver made three catches for 26 yards in his Patriots debut. New England acquired Brown from Philadelphia in a trade involving a 2028 first-round pick.

Yahoo Sports reported that Patriots safety Kevin Byard said Brown was in “high spirits” after the game. The comment provides an update on Brown’s condition but does not establish the seriousness of the injury.

Further information is pending test results. The available details do not provide a diagnosis, recovery timeframe or confirmation of whether Brown will miss additional games.
