Aberdeen and Kilmarnock share points as both end league losing runs
A 0-0 draw at Pittodrie extended neither side’s poor start, with Kilmarnock reduced to 10 men late on.
Aberdeen and Kilmarnock ended their Scottish Premiership losing streaks with a 0-0 draw at Pittodrie in a tetchy contest that produced few clear chances.
Aberdeen’s Tony Yogane struck the inside of the post in the first half, while goalkeepers Marius Muller and Max Stryjek made notable saves. Muller was the busier of the two as Kilmarnock threatened at times.
Kilmarnock were reduced to 10 men with eight minutes remaining when Aaron Tshibola received a second booking for a challenge on Mats Knoester. Aberdeen could not turn the numerical advantage into a winning goal.
The result halted a difficult run for both clubs. Aberdeen had taken points only from their opening-day win over Hearts and had failed to score in their previous three league matches. Kilmarnock had lost their first four Premiership games.
Sky Sports reported that the match was the first of two quick meetings between the sides. They are scheduled to meet again at Rugby Park in the Premier Sports Cup next weekend.
