Alex Zendejas could return to Club América’s starting line-up for El Super Clásico against Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico City on 19 September, according to CBS Sports.

Zendejas has not started for Club América since the World Cup, but played 45 minutes as a substitute against Cruz Azul last week. His possible return would give manager Guillermo Almada another attacking option as the club continues to rotate its squad following Almada’s appointment in July.

The match brings together two of Liga MX’s leading sides. Chivas sit second on the table, with Club América one place behind in third.

The rivalry dates to 1943. CBS Sports reported that Club América have won 99 of the 263 meetings, while Chivas have won 82 and the teams have drawn 82. Chivas also reportedly won three meetings in 2025, compared with one Club América victory.

Zendejas’s inclusion remains unconfirmed, with no official team sheet cited in the report. The fixture is scheduled for 19 September in Mexico City.
