Young and Smith-Njigba named ‘Employees of the Week’ by FOX Sports programme
Bryce Young and Jaxon Smith-Njigba were recognised after each accounted for three touchdowns in Week 2 victories.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young and Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been selected as the informal “Employees of the Week” by FOX Sports’ “Gronk & Jules”.
Julian Edelman chose Young after he completed 23 of 36 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns in Carolina’s 34–3 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Two of Young’s touchdowns went to Darren Waller.
The performance followed Young’s 361 passing yards in Carolina’s Week 1 loss to Chicago. Edelman credited the quarterback with limiting self-inflicted mistakes and taking advantage of opportunities provided by opposing defences.
Smith-Njigba caught nine passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns as Seattle defeated Arizona 31–7. The game was described as the first three-touchdown performance of his career.
Drew Lock, starting in place of the injured Sam Darnold, threw all three Seattle touchdown passes to Smith-Njigba, including an 82-yard reception on the Seahawks’ first passing attempt.
The selections were commentary from Edelman and Rob Gronkowski on the FOX Sports programme, rather than an official NFL award.
