Yankees Target Series Sweep Against Mariners as Rotation Strengthens
New York aims to complete a three-game sweep of Seattle, bolstered by a rotation holding the second-best ERA in Major League Baseball.

The New York Yankees are set to face the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon in the Bronx, seeking to complete a three-game sweep of the series. The contest comes as the Mariners have lost six consecutive games, providing New York with an opportunity to extend their own winning momentum against a struggling opponent.
Yankees left-hander Max Fried is scheduled to take the mound for the afternoon start. Fried has returned to the rotation following time on the injured list with an elbow bone bruise, posting a 1.83 earned run average across four starts. Manager Aaron Boone has noted that Fried’s performance has been strong, stating that when the pitcher is in rhythm, he presents multiple weapons that make him difficult to hit.
The broader Yankees starting rotation continues to perform at a high level, holding the second-best ERA in Major League Baseball at 3.45. Since July 28, the staff has maintained a 2.10 ERA over 14 games, a stretch that includes a start by Will Warren where he allowed three home runs in four innings.
Beyond the main game, the Yankees are managing the recovery of left-hander Carlos Rodon, who is rehabilitating from elbow inflammation. Rodon is scheduled to make a rehab start for the Class AA Somerset affiliate later on Thursday. He will be limited to approximately 55 pitches during the appearance.
While Rodon may be prepared to rejoin the Yankees' rotation by next week, he will not be fully built up for several more starts. The team is monitoring his progress carefully as they look to maintain the depth and effectiveness of their pitching staff throughout the season.
