The 23-year-old switch-hitter was struck by an 89.1 mph cutter from Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi during the fourth inning of a 3-0 loss, just two days after being called up from Triple-A.
While initial X-rays taken at the stadium were inconclusive, manager Aaron Boone noted that Dominguez was in obvious pain upon returning to the dugout. The player reported immediate swelling but stated he currently feels no concern regarding the injury. Consequently, the team will travel back to New York to conduct further examinations to determine the severity of the condition.
