Yamashita ties LPGA record with dominant CPKC Women’s Open win
The Japanese star finished at 23 under par to match the tour’s 72-hole lowest total and secure her second victory of the 2026 season.
Miyu Yamashita has tied the LPGA Tour’s record for the lowest 72-hole total after a commanding performance at the CPKC Women’s Open in Canada. The 25-year-old finished the tournament at 23 under par with a total score of 257, a mark that matches the benchmark set by South Korea’s Kim Sei-young in 2018.
Yamashita’s victory at the Royal Mayfair course was defined by consistency and control. She entered the final round with a six-shot lead and extended her advantage with a four-under 66, which included six birdies. Her final stroke was an eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, sealing a nine-shot margin of victory.
The result also saw Yamashita break the specific tournament record at the CPKC Women’s Open. The previous best score at the venue was 262, a mark established by South Korea’s Ko Jin-young in 2019. By finishing at 257, Yamashita lowered that standard by five shots.
The final leaderboard reflected the scale of Yamashita’s dominance, with her compatriot Yuri Yoshida finishing second at 14 under par. Kim Sei-young, the player whose record Yamashita had just matched, placed third at 13 under par.
This win marks the second victory of the 2026 season for Yamashita, following her triumph at the Meijer Classic in June. It is also her fourth LPGA Tour win in the last 13 months, a run that has cemented her status as one of the tour’s leading figures.
Yamashita’s rise to prominence was solidified last year when she was named the LPGA Tour’s rookie of the year for 2025. That recognition came after she claimed her first major title at the Women’s Open, setting the stage for her continued success on the professional circuit.
