Leeds move third after 4-1 win hands Jaissle first Newcastle defeat
Leeds remain unbeaten after four matches as Calvert-Lewin scores and assists against Newcastle at Elland Road.
Leeds United moved up to third in the Premier League with a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at Elland Road, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.
Both sides had five points from their opening three matches before kick-off, but Leeds established control through goals from Ao Tanaka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor.
Tanaka opened the scoring with a shot that deflected off two Newcastle players. Calvert-Lewin then assisted Leeds’ second before scoring himself shortly before half-time.
Okafor added Leeds’ fourth after the interval with a volley on the bounce. Bazoumana Toure scored a late consolation for Newcastle, but the result was Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle’s first defeat in charge.
According to Sky Sports, Leeds’ position after four matches is their highest at this stage of a season since the 2000-01 campaign.
