X links market conversations to trading through new Cashtag feature
U.S. users can view asset charts and related posts on X before being redirected to participating brokerages to complete trades.

X has launched Cashtag, a feature that allows U.S. users to move from market discussions on the social network to stock trading through participating brokerages, according to TechCrunch.
Users can tap supported cashtags for stocks, exchange-traded funds or cryptocurrencies to view price charts and related posts. A “Trade” option then redirects them to a participating brokerage, where they can sign in and complete a transaction.
X named Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase as initial partners. Users can also access a partner’s mobile app or website to log in or create an account.
Cashtags have historically used a dollar sign before a ticker symbol to help users follow conversations about an asset. StockTwits is credited with proposing the concept for Twitter in 2008. The new feature follows X’s move into financial services with X Money.
The connection between social-media discussion and trading could also create scope for market manipulation by AI-controlled bots, spammers and other bad actors attempting to influence the conversation. The report does not establish the full range of supported assets or brokerages, or whether access is subject to additional eligibility or regulatory restrictions.
