X Corp and SpaceXAI seek dismissal of antitrust claims against Apple
Elon Musk’s companies will continue pursuing claims against OpenAI, but gave no reason for abandoning their case against Apple.
X Corp and SpaceXAI have asked a United States federal court to dismiss their antitrust claims against Apple, according to Al Jazeera Global News. The filing gave no reason for the move and did not disclose whether the parties had reached a settlement.
The lawsuit, filed in August 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas, alleged that Apple and OpenAI breached United States and Texas antitrust laws through an arrangement integrating ChatGPT into iPhone features.
X Corp and SpaceXAI claimed the arrangement gave ChatGPT access to potential users through Siri, Apple’s Writing Tools and the iPhone camera, while making it harder for rival artificial intelligence companies to build scale.
They also alleged that Apple disadvantaged competing chatbots through its App Store, including by delaying app reviews and manipulating rankings. Those claims have not been established by the court.
Apple and OpenAI had separately sought to have the lawsuit dismissed. US District Judge Mark Pittman rejected both motions in November, allowing the case to proceed.
The companies said their claims against OpenAI would remain active. The filing did not detail the precise scope or procedural status of those remaining claims.
