WWE SummerSlam 2026 confirmed as two-night event in Minneapolis
The promotion has finalised a card featuring Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar for the second consecutive year’s two-day format.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 has been officially scheduled as a two-night event in Minneapolis, Minnesota, taking place on August 1 and 2. This marks the second consecutive year the promotion has utilised a dual-night format for the event, a structural decision that necessitates an expanded match card and a broader roster of high-profile talent. The event will be broadcast live via ESPN Unlimited.
The headline bout on the Undisputed WWE Championship sees current champion CM Punk defend his title against Cody Rhodes. Punk secured the undisputed status by defeating Sami Zayn, a result of him replacing Rhodes after the latter was incapacitated by Gunther. Rhodes, who had previously offered Punk a title shot at any time, is now set to challenge for the prize he lost in Las Vegas.
Roman Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins. The two former Shield allies have maintained a complex rivalry over 14 years, oscillating between allies and adversaries. Rollins has previously suggested this encounter could be their final meeting for the world title, adding narrative weight to the contest.
In a Hell in a Cell match, Brock Lesnar will face Oba Femi. Femi earned his position by winning the King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions, where he was awarded a world title shot. He declined that opportunity to pursue a match against Lesnar, with whom he is tied one win apiece. This bout represents their third and potentially final clash.
Other confirmed championship matches include Liv Morgan defending the Women's World Championship against Iyo Sky, who defeated Morgan in the Queen of the Ring finals. Penta will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable, who earned his shot by winning a seven-man gauntlet.
The card also features a six-man tag team match pitting The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso) against a trio comprising LA Knight, Royce Keys, and Solo Sikoa. This alliance is based on shared grievances against The Bloodline. Additionally, an interim WWE Women's Championship ladder match has been scheduled between Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton, along with three other yet-to-be-announced competitors. The interim title was created because champion Rhea Ripley is sidelined with a torn meniscus.
Potential future bouts include Gunther facing either Sami Zayn or SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, following the suspension of both men after a physical altercation on Raw. Other possibilities include a United States Championship triple threat match involving champion Trick Williams, Carmelo Hayes, and Baron Corbin, as well as a singles match between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
The event streams live on ESPN Unlimited, with the main card commencing at 6 p.m. ET on August 2. The scheduling and match configurations reflect the promotion's strategy to maximise content output during its premier summer event.
