WWE Backlash 2026 predictions, picks for each match scheduled for Saturday in Tampa
Five matches headlined by Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu

WWE Backlash 2026 is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. As the first significant event following WrestleMania 42, the card features five matches designed to set the direction for the promotion's future. The headline bout sees Roman Reigns defend the World Heavyweight Championship against his cousin, Jacob Fatu.

Fatu issued the challenge the night after Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the title at WrestleMania 42. The narrative has intensified since that moment, with Fatu reportedly breaking out the Tongan Death Grip on Reigns several times. Despite rumors suggesting an upcoming break for the champion, the match represents a serious test for Reigns, who has held the title for less than one month.

Other key bouts include a clash between Asuka and Iyo Sky, a match that has been building for months following the release of Kairi Sane. Additionally, Seth Rollins faces Bron Breakker in a bout originally intended for WrestleMania 42 but delayed due to injuries to both men. The United States Championship is also on the line, with Trick Williams defending against Sami Zayn in a feud described as revolving around a dead gingerbread man.

In a separate contest, The Miz and Kit Wilson are not expected to win their match. The opposing team is anticipated to consist of Danhausen and a mystery partner, reportedly CM Punk, who is said to have facilitated WWE's signing of the superstar. Kit Wilson has emerged as a solo act following an injury to Elton Prince.

CBS Sports noted that while the card only features five matches, some of them have major implications for the promotion. The event serves as a platform to build momentum for key storylines, including the terrifying persona of Breakker and the stabilization of the women's division.
