Worrall seeks fresh start as Wrexham prepare to host Burnley

Joe Worrall says limited opportunities at Burnley motivated his deadline-day move to Wrexham, with the defender preparing to face his former club at the Racecourse on Tuesday.
Worrall, 29, made 27 appearances for Burnley across two years, including eight league starts. He said he was “extremely frustrated” by his limited involvement in the Premier League after injuries affected his role during Burnley’s 2024–25 promotion campaign.
The defender said he joined Wrexham partly to prove to himself that he can still contribute to a side aiming for promotion. He previously captained Nottingham Forest to play-off success in 2024.
Worrall is targeting his first start for Wrexham after making two successive appearances as an unused substitute. He said avoiding further injury would be important as he seeks a larger role at his new club.
Wrexham followed a 3-0 win at Millwall with a goalless draw at Swansea. The club is due to host Burnley at 19:45 BST on Tuesday.
