Burrow’s interception fails to overshadow Bengals’ winning start
Joe Burrow acknowledged a late third-quarter interception as the main blemish in Cincinnati’s 33–27 season-opening win over Tampa Bay.
The Cincinnati Bengals opened their NFL campaign with a 33–27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but quarterback Joe Burrow focused on the mistake that shaped his assessment of the performance.
Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown. In post-match comments reported by Yahoo Sports, he identified his late third-quarter interception as the key issue, saying it prevented him from feeling fully satisfied with his display.
The broader team performance provided a stronger foundation. Cincinnati’s offensive line allowed one sack, while the defence forced four turnovers against Tampa Bay.
The result gives the Bengals an early win as they pursue a return to the NFL Playoffs after two seasons away. The opening performance addressed some of the areas that had drawn criticism, although one game provides limited evidence about the campaign ahead.
Cincinnati are scheduled to face the Houston Texans on 20 September.
