The Chicago Bulls secured a 99-87 victory over the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League on Tuesday, July 14, in Las Vegas. The win marked a significant turnaround for forward Caleb Wilson, who scored 19 points and delivered a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the third quarter to seal the outcome.
Wilson, selected fourth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, played 23 minutes in his third Summer League appearance. He shot 7 of 15 from the field, including 2 of 6 from beyond the arc, and added eight rebounds, two blocks, and two assists. His performance represented a marked improvement from his previous two games, where he struggled from the free-throw line, converting only 2 of 12 attempts.
The Bulls utilised the league’s specific Summer League regulations, which limit teams to a single free-throw attempt per foul situation. Wilson capitalised on this rule by making his lone attempt after being fouled on a three-point shot in the first half. He had scored 11 points before halftime, establishing an early advantage that the Wizards could not fully overcome.
The contest featured notable connections to the University of North Carolina (UNC). Washington Wizards player Seth Trimble, a former teammate of Wilson at UNC, contributed 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals for the losing side. Former UNC head coach Hubert Davis was present at the Thomas & Mack Center to observe the game from the baseline.
Chicago is scheduled to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, July 16, with the match broadcast at 6 p.m. on Prime Video. While Wilson has played in each of the Bulls’ first three Summer League games, it remains unclear whether he will participate in the remainder of the tournament schedule.
