Rookie starter Hagen Smith pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one, the report said. Grant Taylor struck out five over 2.1 innings as Chicago’s relievers worked behind Smith.
Game 2 was scheduled for Wednesday. Yahoo Sports reported that Chicago had not announced its starter, while Houston planned to start Hunter Brown.
The report said a Chicago win in Game 2 would send the White Sox to the American League Division Series against Cleveland.
