White Sox Minor League Update: June 2, 2026
Affiliates secure four wins across Class A and Double-A levels, while Arizona Complex League squad suffers back-to-back defeats

The Chicago White Sox minor league system recorded a split decision on June 2, 2026, with four affiliates securing victories while the Arizona Complex League (ACL) team suffered two consecutive defeats. The day’s outcomes highlighted a disparity between the upper-level prospects, who demonstrated offensive depth and pitching resilience, and the rookie-level squad, which struggled with discipline and defensive execution.

In Charlotte, the Knights overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the Durham Bulls 6-1. Hagen Smith delivered a sharp performance on the mound, allowing only one run and two hits over 4 1/3 innings while recording a season-high nine strikeouts. The Knights’ offense responded with a five-double assault, including key hits from Dustin Harris, Dru Baker, and Caden Connor, to flip the score and build an insurmountable lead. The bullpen, featuring clean innings from Peyton Pallette, Garrett Schoenle, and Ben Peoples, preserved the win.

Birmingham faced a more precarious path, holding a 6-0 lead before allowing five runs in the final three innings to edge the Knoxville Smokies 7-6. Jeral Pérez was instrumental in the early surge, recording a two-run home run and a bases-clearing double to finish with five RBIs. The Barons’ defense and bullpen had to withstand a late rally, with Jonathan Clark navigating a chaotic ninth inning that included wild pitches and a throwing error before striking out the final batter to secure the victory.

Further down the minor league ladder, the Winston-Salem Dash and Hickory Crawdads secured narrow wins in low-scoring affairs. The Dash defeated the Hub City Spartanburgers 2-1, relying on George Wolkow’s eighth-inning two-run home run, his eighth of the season, to break a scoreless tie. In Hickory, the Crawdads overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 6-3, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting in the fifth inning to take control of the game.

Conversely, the ACL White Sox experienced a difficult day, losing 5-2 to the Diamondbacks and 7-2 to the Guardians. The losses were characterized by significant pitching struggles and defensive errors. In the defeat to the Guardians, the Sox surrendered a sixth-inning collapse that included five runs, three balks, and multiple stolen bases, negating a 2-1 lead. Starter Orlando Suarez walked six batters in 3 2/3 innings, underscoring the command issues that plagued the rookie-level squad throughout the day.
