Kanagawa Prefectural Police reported that the break in the water main took place around midday on June 6, 2026. Emergency calls regarding the incident were received shortly after 1:30 pm, with initial assessments indicating that the water flow remained uncontrolled at the time of reporting.
The scale of the rupture was significant, with police noting that the pressure caused water to jet vertically to a height of roughly 10 metres.
