The Minnesota Vikings have named eight team captains for the 2026 season, according to Yahoo Sports.

The group comprises Brian O'Neill, Josh Metellus, Andrew DePaola, Kyler Murray, Justin Jefferson, Andrew Van Ginkel, Blake Cashman and Aaron Jones.

Murray, Van Ginkel and Cashman are new captains. O'Neill, Metellus, DePaola, Jefferson and Jones served in the role last season.

The announcement follows Minnesota's reduction of its roster to 53 players and subsequent changes to the bottom of the roster and practice squad.

Harrison Smith, who signed a one-year deal to return to Minnesota, was not included among the named captains. The Vikings' coaching staff has stressed that leadership extends beyond the formal captaincy group, and Smith may still be relied upon in that capacity.
