Vikings’ defence delivers 9–3 win as Caleb Williams suffers hamstring injury
Minnesota moved to 2–0 after restricting Chicago to three points in a rain-affected NFC North contest at Soldier Field.

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 9–3 at Soldier Field, extending their record to 2–0 while Chicago fell to 1–1. Fox Sports reported that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a right hamstring injury while scrambling and was replaced by Tyson Bagent.
Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception, before leaving the game. The duration and severity of the injury were not reported.
Minnesota’s defence controlled a contest played in persistent rain, forcing four Chicago punts and holding the Bears to five conversions from 14 third-down attempts. The Vikings also applied sustained pressure, with Fox Sports citing Next Gen Stats figures that recorded blitzing on 81.8 per cent of defensive plays.
Chicago’s running game also lost momentum. D’Andre Swift, who had rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, was held to 38 yards from 12 carries.
The Vikings prevented a potential change in the result early in the second half when Jalen Redmond forced Swift to fumble at the goal line and Isaiah Rodgers recovered. Rodgers later blocked a 23-yard field-goal attempt by Cairo Santos that would have levelled the game.
