Utah Mammoth camp puts rookie claims on notice
With one likely roster place available, Utah’s training camp will test whether Daniil But and Maveric Lamoureux can displace established depth players.

That leaves Tij Iginla, Caleb Desnoyers, Daniil But and Maveric Lamoureux facing uncertain assignments. The report suggests Iginla and Desnoyers may benefit from starting in the AHL, where they would play significant minutes against older competition after dominating major junior.
Lamoureux is viewed as a more immediate option after substantial AHL experience and 20 NHL games over the past two seasons. His AHL offensive record does not clearly point to star potential, but he has an opportunity to establish himself as a middle-pairing defenceman. Andrew Peeke and Nick DeSimone are identified as right-shot depth players who could be displaced.
But also enters camp with a case to make. He recorded 38 points in 41 AHL games as a rookie and, according to MoneyPuck data cited in the report, ranked highly among Mammoth forwards for generating high-danger scoring chances in 2025-26.
