Presidential Message on National Missing Children’s Day
White House statement cites border sealing and ICE operations as key to restoring law enforcement strength and reducing crime

The US President issued a formal message on National Missing Children’s Day, commemorating missing children and outlining the current administration’s actions to combat child trafficking. The statement attributed the disappearance of hundreds of thousands of migrant children to the previous administration’s border policies, specifically citing four years of what the President described as radical open-border measures.

According to the White House Briefings & Statements feed, the message claimed that these policies resulted in unaccompanied minors being placed with unvetted sponsors or trafficked across the border alone. The President alleged that vulnerable children were delivered into the hands of sex traffickers and human smugglers under the predecessor’s administration, describing the situation as a betrayal of innocent children and a modern-day exploitation that caused significant suffering.

To address the crisis, the administration has launched an initiative with state and local governments to locate thousands of missing children and facilitate their safe return to their home countries. The President stated that the administration would not rest until every missing child is found and returned safely, emphasising an unwavering resolve to reverse what was characterised as a systemic injustice.

The statement further detailed enforcement measures, including the sealing of borders and the deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to arrest individuals accused of preying on children and fueling smuggling networks. The President asserted that these operations have dismantled criminal networks and ensured that those responsible for placing children in harm’s way face the full weight of American justice.

Additionally, the message claimed that law enforcement strength has been restored through increased funding and tools for police and federal agencies. The President stated that crime rates are being driven down to historic lows as a result of these efforts, arguing that these measures keep American families and their children safe from harm while investigations into missing children continue.
