The United States beat Mexico 3-0 in an exhibition at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with a young side converting its chances against its regional rival.

Julian Hall opened the scoring. Cavan Sullivan added the second, and Malik Tillman scored late to complete the result.

Fox Sports reported that Sullivan, aged 17, became the youngest goalscorer in US men’s national team history. The report said he scored after intercepting a misplaced pass and chipping goalkeeper Jose Rangel.

The result ended the US team’s winless streak against FIFA top-10 opponents, according to Fox Sports, which identified Mexico as ranked No. 10. The report did not specify the streak’s duration.

Mexico had more than 60 per cent of first-half possession, Fox Sports reported, while Hall scored during one of the US side’s few sustained spells on the ball. The report described the roster as unusually young and at the start of the 2030 World Cup cycle.
