US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to travel to Kyiv after more than three hours of closed-door talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on possible steps to end the Russia–Ukraine war.
The Financial Times reported that the envoys were due to present a peace proposal, although its terms remained undisclosed. The White House described the Moscow discussions as “substantive”, but no agreement or confirmed breakthrough was announced.
Russia and Ukraine also reportedly paused air strikes during the envoys’ visit, according to the Financial Times context. The terms and scope of the pause were not disclosed.
Expectations in Kyiv were low ahead of the visit. The contents of the proposal, along with any commitments arising from the Moscow talks, remained unclear.
