UFC to Host 'Freedom 250' Mixed Martial Arts Event on White House South Lawn

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has confirmed plans to host a historic mixed martial arts event, titled 'Freedom 250', on the South Lawn of the White House. Tentatively scheduled for June 14 to coincide with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, the card features a main event where lightweight champion Ilia Topuria faces interim champion Justin Gaethje. Interim heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will make his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane, and heavyweight contender Josh Hokit will fight Derrick Lewis.

Due to the event taking place on federal land, no state athletic commission has jurisdiction, but the Association of Boxing Commissions will serve as regulatory advisors to ensure safety protocols are met. The event is expected to have fewer than 5,000 spectators on the South Lawn, with an additional 85,000 fans able to attend free screenings at the nearby Ellipse Park.

The event was initially announced as a six-fight card at UFC 326 in March. A seventh fight (Hokit vs Lewis) was added at UFC 327 in April, following Hokit's victory over Curtis Blaydes. President Trump personally requested Derrick Lewis's inclusion on the card. UFC released new renderings on May 23 showing arches over the Octagon for lighting and video boards.

Pre-event festivities include a press conference at the Lincoln Memorial on June 12 and a two-day "Fan Fest" at The Ellipse on June 13–14. The Fan Fest includes a concert headlined by the Zac Brown Band and ceremonial weigh-ins. White House Press Secretary Karoline White confirmed that logistics, including sun positioning, have been finalised.

Tickets for Ellipse Park are free, with distribution methods to be announced soon. The event represents a significant convergence of sports entertainment and federal property usage, with the UFC committing to abide by all applicable regulatory requirements in support of this event.
