Turner halts Fernandes in 39 seconds at UFC 330

Jalin Turner concluded his bout against Kaue Fernandes via first-round knockout at UFC 330 in Philadelphia, ending the contest in just 39 seconds. The victory marks the 11th knockout of Turner’s career and secures his first consecutive wins since a five-fight winning streak in 2022.

The lightweight clash, which was added to the main card shortly before the event, saw Turner, who returned to competition in December 2025, neutralise Fernandes’ striking early in the round. Turner, who has never won a fight via decision, capitalised on a missed spin kick from Fernandes to land a decisive left hand, followed by a barrage of punches that ended the contest.

Fernandes entered the bout on a three-fight winning streak, having secured five victories in his past six outings. The Brazilian fighter had previously utilised various kick finishes to close out his time with the Legacy Fighting Alliance, including leg kick and head kick knockouts. However, he was unable to sustain his offensive output against Turner’s counter-striking.

Turner, standing at 6-foot-3, had previously defeated Edson Barboza via first-round knockout upon his return from a brief retirement in 2025. The outcome of this bout places Turner in a position to challenge for a higher standing in the lightweight division, with pre-fight odds listing him as a slight favourite at -122 against Fernandes, who was priced at +104.

Following the victory, Turner stated his desire to face a ranked opponent to improve his position within the division. He indicated that he is ready to make an earnest run towards the top rankings, having previously held a ranked status in the past.
