TSSAA releases official scores for Week 1 of 2026 high school football season
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has published results for games played on 20 and 21 August, marking the official start of the 2026 campaign.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) has released the official scores for the first week of the 2026 high school football season. The governing body for state athletics confirmed that all reported games were submitted to the association prior to publication, establishing the official record for the weekend’s fixtures.
The season commenced with a limited slate of matches on Thursday, 20 August, before the full schedule began on Friday, 21 August. Results from the Thursday games were the first to be verified and posted by the TSSAA.
In East Tennessee, Baylor recorded a 38-20 victory over Brentwood Academy. Cleveland defeated Walker Valley 48-20, while Powell edged past Anderson County 56-44. Sullivan East secured a dominant 41-0 win against Johnson County.
In Middle Tennessee, Nolensville defeated Lebanon 21-14 in the only confirmed score from the region’s Thursday slate. The remaining results from the Friday schedule across East and Middle Tennessee were listed as scheduled matchups at the time of the release, with final scores pending verification.
The TSSAA’s release covers games played across the state’s regions, including fixtures involving schools from adjacent states such as Georgia and Kentucky. These cross-border matches are subject to the same reporting standards as in-state games once results are submitted to the association.
This initial release serves as the baseline for the 2026 season, with the TSSAA continuing to update the record as additional games are completed and reported throughout the week.
