Fighting between Ethiopian federal forces and rebel groups appears to be worsening across multiple fronts, according to a France 24 report published on 26 September.
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) said this week it was in a “full-blown” war with federal forces. The description is the group’s characterisation of the conflict.
Days earlier, the TPLF and six other armed groups formed a coalition with the stated aim of overthrowing Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government.
By Friday, another armed group had claimed to join the alliance. France 24 did not identify the group or independently confirm its membership.
