Tottenham seal Savinho transfer from Manchester City for initial £75m
The 22-year-old Brazil winger joins Spurs on a long-term deal, capping a pursuit that spanned more than 12 months and adding to a summer investment already exceeding £312m.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazil winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial fee of £75m, with the total potentially rising to £85m depending on performance add-ons. The 22-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract, concluding a transfer saga that began over a year ago when Spurs initially failed to secure his signature.
Savinho’s move to north London follows a period of limited playing time at the Etihad Stadium. Under Pep Guardiola, he made just seven Premier League starts last season, a significant drop from previous involvement. His 2024-25 statistics, however, highlighted his efficiency, with the winger ranking third in the division for open-play assists per 90 minutes and leading the league for carries followed by a chance created.
Manager Roberto de Zerbi praised the new arrival’s tactical qualities, describing him as a player who brings energy, imagination, and the courage to attack defenders. Savinho confirmed that conversations with De Zerbi were decisive in his decision to join, citing the manager’s promise to help him reach his highest level.
The signing represents a substantial addition to Tottenham’s summer recruitment drive. The club has already spent £312m on other players, including Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Spurs have also bolstered their squad with free transfers for defenders Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson, as well as goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Savinho, who has earned 13 caps for Brazil, joined Manchester City from French side Troyes in 2024 for £30.8m. During his time at the club, he made 84 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists. His versatility, having played on both wings during his two Premier League seasons, is expected to offer tactical flexibility for De Zerbi.
Manchester City remain in advanced talks to sell Egypt forward Omar Marmoush to Tottenham, with sources indicating a good chance the deal will be completed before the 1 September transfer deadline.
